Tu B'Shevat Shabbat Kiddush
Saturday, February 4, 2023 • 13 Shevat 5783
All DayCome join in a Tu B’Shevat Shabbat celebration and learning experience. On this holiday one custom is to enjoy a new fruit on this day, or partake of the Seven Species (shivat haminim), in the Torah referenced as being abundant in Israel. The Shivat Haminim are: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates / honey. (Deut. 8:8). People also plant trees in honor of the New Year of the trees. Kabbalists, in the 16th century, conceived of a Tu B’Shevat Seder, analogous to the Pesach Seder. At the Tu B’Shevat Seder, the meaning of the holiday and the Seven Species are discussed. Join us for a delicious and illuminating discussion after Shabbat services on Feb 4, 2023.
